Are you finding it harder to find your drive needed to continually prove yourself?

Are you on paper “successful” in the sense that you continually get promoted; yet once you do, you’re not happy for long?

Are you thinking what’s the point?

You’re not alone.

This appears to be a common theme with clients I’ve worked with recently. My theory is that in our accelerated and highly pressurised world, it’s easy to get caught up in the doing. We're continually striving for “more". It’s what’s expected of us.

When was the last time you asked yourself:

“Why do you do what you do?”

Not the easiest of questions to answer. I often hear, “it’s what I thought I wanted” or “I've done this for so long, I don’t know anything else”...

When I ask: “...and what else?” I often get greeted by silence.

How is this question linked to rekindling your mojo?

Aligning what you do to what is important to you gives your actions as sense of “purpose”. You are more likely to stay motivated and keep going even when things are difficult because what you’re doing is tied to something that matters to you. Are you doing things because it’s what is “expected” i.e. what others want of you as opposed to what matters to you?

So how do you find out what matters to you if you’re not sure?

I suggest starting with your values. What are the core values that are truly important to you? Are you living by these values day to day? What evidence can you provide that demonstrates this? When you do live by your values, what does that feel like? How does it compare to when you don’t? Could this be why you fee like you’ve lost your mojo?

Working with a coach to explore your values and then aligning what you do to these values could help you rekindle your mojo as well as guide you to live a life with greater purpose and passion.
