How to prepare for challenging times

I coach leaders in transition such as taking on a bigger role.

With a larger role comes more responsibilities which often translates to longer hours.

It’s easy to feel like you’re on a hamster wheel.

Putting in all your effort but seemingly not making much progress.

You can rapidly feel worn out.

You’re not as quick.  In your thinking nor actions.

You put in more hours to compensate.

It’s a vicious cycle.

It doesn’t leave you with much to deal with the unexpected.

Which will happen.

What can you do?

Manage your energy to ensure that you

feel good in your body,

clear in your mind and

light in your heart

so that you can surf the challenges that arise.

It takes self-awareness

through periods of reflection

to check in with yourself

to identify what your body, mind and heart needs.

If you imagine yourself as a battery, how are your energy levels in these 3 areas?

What do you need to feel recharged?

Is it being outdoors?

Connecting with others?

A regular sleep schedule?

Only you know.

After all, you can’t help others or yourself when your battery is empty.
