A recent study by the Stevens Institute of Technology

Found that Jekyl and Hyde leaders who flip flopped between nice and mean

From one day to the next

Were more damaging to employees than consistently abusive leaders.

So how do you show up emotionally consistent as a leader?

1.     Set the intention to be calm

a.     Check in with yourself regularly to see how you’re doing

2.     Reflect.

a.     Are there situations/people that make it easier/worse for you to stay calm?

b.     What can you do to create an environment that allows you to be calm?

3.     Pause

a.     A strong emotion is signal to pause

b.     Don’t react

c.     Take a moment

d.     Then respond.

What else can you do to be emotionally consistent?
