The last 3 years has seen all of us battered by multiple Covid lockdowns, restricted travel, war in the Ukraine and now the possibility of a recession and mass redundancies.
Does it feel like being resilient is no longer enough?
How do you lead others when you yourself are struggling?
How do you find the mental and emotional strength to spring back and keep going?
To not just survive but ideally thrive?
5 steps that might help 👇
1. Radical acceptance
Try to accept the situation for what it is.
Acceptance is not the same as agreeing to the situation.
The situation is what it is.
“Fighting” it and thinking “it shouldn’t be this way” doesn’t make the situation less painful.
But accepting does mean you will suffer less.
Easy to say, hard to do.
I get it. I struggle with this. A LOT.
2. Remember your WHY
Why are you doing what you’re doing?
What’s the impact you want on the world and others?
Does it allow you to live values that are important to you?
Use this as a “magnet” to draw you forwards
3. Rest
Long periods of stress and uncertainty takes its toll.
You might not have the energy that you used to have or be as quick in your thoughts and actions.
So be firm with setting boundaries and rest.
Get enough sleep so that you can keep going.
4. Do the things you love to remind yourself why you’re alive
Work and challenges will always be there.
Take time out regularly to do the things you love, whether it’s exercise, the arts or being out in nature.
5. Find your tribe
Being a leader is lonely.
So spend time with people who inspire and bring you alive. Be it your partner, friends, relatives or mentors
Remember.
Although things seem relentless and you’re struggling to remain resilient
This too shall pass
