What does achieving your goal give you?

As we start 2023, many will be setting goals for the year. Is it to get a bigger role or be an inspiring leader?

All worthy goals.

However.

What does achieving the goal give you?

A goal is a means to an end.

Getting a promotion in itself doesn’t mean that much.

It’s often what it brings.

Recognition and a larger salary.

Taking it further it could mean to you financial freedom and a greater sense of agency as well as an ability to have greater impact.

Why is this important to consider?

It gives greater clarity as to why you’re striving to achieve a goal.

It’s often related to something deeply meaningful to you such as a core value or purpose.

This makes the goal much easier to recall during moments of choice.

Acts as a magnet to draw you forward.

Giving you a greater chance of achieving your goal.

So when you’re goal setting, ask yourself what will it give me?
