We can ask people to trust us.

We can make an effort to be trustworthy.

But we cannot make people trust us because it is theirs to give and not ours to take.

I coach leaders in transition such as taking on a larger role.

A common theme of my clients is how to gain trust of their news teams.

So how do we earn trust?

1️⃣Start by showing your trust in others.

Trust your teams to do their jobs.

Give them the tools.

Give them the authority.

Then step aside.

Free your teams to do the job you’ve given them.

No one likes to be micromanaged.

2️⃣Be trustworthy

a/ Walk your talk.

Do your actions reflect what you say?

Consistently?

b/ Think WE not ME.

Do you make decisions in the best interest of team even when it’s not to your personal advantage?

c/ Be human.

Admit your mistakes.

Honesty goes a long way to building a trusting environment.

Lots of people talk about trust.

And want to be trusted.

But to earn trust you need to be trustworthy 24/7/365.

What else can you do to build trust?
